Its really the little family places that are the most fun They are also the mostcharacteristic of place. The chains and the big fancy places could be anywhere but the family places are from the locational heart of a dynasty albeit not a famous one. So I was happy to find this place run by a mother and son.
I had to draw a picture of a fish and a potato and a carrot to tell them what I wanted and the artists among you Christina, Ruthie, Suzi–would not have been proud of my rendering. The Mom was born in `1941 so she would have been a little girl for the Hiroshima bomb and even so I would wager she was aware of what happened. But she most definitely would have been around for the Allied occupation and I was sorry I didn’t really get to hear her thoughts on it.
The pictures take in the whole restaurant. The food was great. I was happy.
This took me to the bullet train and I will try to give you the experience. As you ride along you can’t really sense how fast you are going. It even looks reasonably slow as the first little video shows. You just need a comparison and I hope you got that sense in the second. So I am now in Naoshima and tomorrow I will show you some amazing art that you can live inside. Good night all. I leave you with the bullet train out of Tokyo bound for Okayama.
