Every corner you turn takes you through a cloud of smoke. Whole stores are filled with smoking ephemera. We are stuck in the old ways.
On the positive side look at this cool egg carton hanging exhibit celebrating the water polo prowess of the Croatians. Its in the Dubrovnik airport. Yes made of egg cartons and BIG guys
Another idea whose time should come is this locked charging station. You put your phone in one of the cubicles, attach
The proper cable. Lock it and take the key. Come back later and retrieve your charged phone

Julie, I finally caught up with your blog posts, and they were well worth the wait. You have been trekking through some of the saddest, most war-torn real estate in human history–WWI ignited when a separatist murdered the Austrian arch-duke, fascists rode the Nazi wave in WWII to murder neighbors of different faiths, “christians” murdering serbs in the present age. Perhaps the rabid smoking is, as you suggest, a form of grabbing for short-term gratifications when there is no trust in a civilized future. And is it economics or some kind of strange political irony that Game of Thrones is filmed in that region? Not sure I could ever trek through the former Yugoslavia.
