Little Finland has succeeded in making itself a world center for modern design and also for being Green
On the Green front there is a living consortium of businesses, government , university , and consumers
Everybody is engaged in something Green Aren’t these interesting lampshades?
They look like silk. They are created from bacteria cells and will never go to a landfill or pollute. This one is plant cellulose
Another design focuses on creating a full birthing location for developing countries with better sanitation . This included shower pods with sterilized and recycled water run on this little gem

Another idea which exists already is cellpods which would.give all of us organic, fresh, fast growing food without needing soil.
The city is full of free bicycles and Green trams and buses. And cafes
Where everyone smokes

One of my great colleagues and mentors in the adult literacy field in the US is a Finland transplant. She has SUPER progressive ideas and is fearless in the face of useless traditions. Now I know why…
I learned in an exhibit long ago that the Finns are also leading designers of tools and gadgets that severely physically challenged people can use–long pincers that you strap onto your arms for reaching for something on a high shelf from your wheel chair, or a device that can pull open the spout of a milk carton for people who have no hands. Not a lot of wasted energy, of any kind, in those countries.
