Then you can click on the little clockwise icon at the top right and it will flip correctly. I know, I know SOOO much work for you. But well worth it.
I saw this exhibition at the Zapopan museum while waiting to attend a jazz concert at the really cool “cube” in Guadalajara. I was so impressed as it captures the essence of our sharing this planet at this moment. I wrote to Marianna and we have been corresponding to see if she were interested in several more contributions:
- from the spot where Van Gogh painted Crows over the Wheatfields in Auvers-sur-Oise, France. Collected by my niece Lauren and her soon-t0-be husband, RJ
- Some from Burkhara, Uzbekistan at Job’s Well. Civilization that is reported to be the oldest city on earth.
- Some from Troy
- Some from Gallipoli
I was able to collect the three samples and could bring back to Mexico or USA as they are not from farms. My friend, Agustin, warned me that the EU has stricter rules and I could actually be ARRESTED!! Yikes!! Marianna responded to me that DHL or Fedex won’t take soil samples but I could MAIL it!!

Of course this provided me with a full fledged adventure, entitled “Going to the Post Office in Istanbul.” There was a large cast of characters–the TSA agent who put my bag through x-ray, the two or three people who helped me find the number machine, the two agents at the post office who wanted to send the package for $50USD!! The agent who found me a piece of paper on which I could draw a boat (very clever symbolism–inverted half an orange with a planted flag in the middle–DEFINITELY a boat). THis lowered the price to 10 bucks. When asked what was in the package (Turkey is always on high alert, all cinemas, malls, big stores, transportation hubs, etc. require that bags go through x-ray), I just mentioned that it was supplies for an art project (true).
There was an earlier part of this drama where I did a rehearsal to the post office to see if I could buy a padded envelop. No dice. BUT, a little libreria had envelops. She gave me a half used role of packing tape as well for free (I am a nice lady according to her) so I gave her a 50 centavo piece and she was thrilled!! So easy to make people happy in this world. Everybody wins.
