Art in naoshima 1

Naoshima is not a common world art destination. It is a tiny hilly island . One 711 convenience store. 2 grocery stores. One taxi who stops at 8pm. BUT. . the art.  All so different.                                               It perches on a grassy knoll overlooking the ferry port.      Art to me should transport the viewer, the reader, the listener, the aficionado to a place unintended . It is the surprise response elicited by the interaction between the audience and the work that defies expectation. True art cannot be predictable because all of us bring a unique set of life experience to the union between us and the work. It is actually the response that is the creation.
