I always thought that when a country that is dependent on tourism suffers a catastrophe then it is time for us tourists to rise to the challenge and support that country. At the time of this photo the Shining Path, a guerilla movement in Peru was targeting tourists and all of the people whose lives depended on tourism were suffering greatly. I went to Peru to support the people and ended up the only person in the sites: Machu Picchu, the Amazon lodge, etc. It was wonderful for me as the local people were so grateful that they encircled me with their inclusion. I even got to sit in a thermal bath with them on top of the mountain surrounded by the blanket of stars that made up the night sky. Everything unplanned brings its rewards.
